The RFID system, developed by RST-Invent for the Valtera jewelry house, allowed the company to fully automate product accounting for shipments from a warehouse to chain stores.

Valtera jewelry brand was created in 2003 and over 10 years of steady development, it has evolved from a small retail store into an extensive network of branded stores across the country. Today, the company has its own jewelry factory, and the retail chain has more than 100 points of sale.

Due to the regular increase in the number of outlets and the total volume of jewelry produced, Valtera was thinking about introducing RFID technology to automate the shipment of its products. Given the available volumes of products, the use of bar coding technology to account for jewelry took too much time, the process of manually recalculating products was very time-consuming, and finding a specific product seemed an impossible task at all.

The RFID system developed by RST-Invent together with the Valtera team has proven its effectiveness already at the stage of the pilot project in 2010. Initially, the project used foreign-made RFID stickers that marked Valtera jewelry tags. After some time, the RFID system was improved – self-adhesive tags were replaced by ready-made tags with built-in RFID technology. The miniature size of WinnyTag RFID tags manufactured by RST-Invent allowed them to be integrated into the standard Valtera tag.

RFID system: principle of operation

Using an RFID printer, Valtera employees put product information on the finished RFID tags: name, article number, price, etc. At the same time, the product barcode is written to the RFID tag memory, and the unique tag identification number (EPC) is mapped to database with specific jewelry.

Jewelry marked with RFID tags are first delivered to the warehouse for packaging in packages of 100 pieces, and then shipped from there to stores. When shipped to stores, marked products are registered with the RST-Cube device, specially developed by the specialists of RST-Invent for group accounting of jewelry. The special design ensures registration of only those marked products that are placed inside the device. This prevents accidental reading of products with RFID tags located in close proximity to the device.

At the time of registration of products with the RST-Cube device, Valtera records information about registered goods ready for shipment. At the same time, the accounting system automatically generates supporting documentation.
